Here’s how to submit yourself and the name of your conlang to be included visually in our film.
You will need:
2. A high res camera or camera phone – NO FLASH ALLOWED
3. Something to wear that’s not black
4. Something to put up behind you that is black.
5. One conlang that you have created or are actually creating now. If you have more than one language, then pick just one to submit.
6. Proof that your conlang is real – a web page or grammar sketch, etc.
Step 1: Put up your black backdrop behind you – a generally dark background will work as well
Wearing something that is not black, have an assistant take a closeup of your head and shoulders. Do not crop off your neck or the top of your head – make sure your shoulders are entirely visible.
If you don’t have someone to help you, you can use a tripod and a self timer, of course.
We will not use images if they are not in focus or if they are severely under exposed or if they are overexposed.
Here are some examples of good photos
And of ones we can’t use.
Step 2: In order to show the audience the name of your conlang, we need it in Romanization and optionally (but ideally) in your native constructed orthography. We would prefer that you send us clean vector-based outlines as a PDF. Be sure to include the name in romanization also.
If you do not have computer-based artwork, then write out your conlang name with a bold pen on white paper in your script; label it with the romanized name and take a picture in sharp focus of that handwriting in the highest resolution that you can.
Step 3: Submit your name (or pen name if you use one officially) as you want it to appear in the film, and images at the highest resolution you can, or PDFs.
We cannot guarantee that you will be included in the film if you submit, but it is one of the project’s core goals to show the world as many conlangers as possible, so we will honestly strive to include you and we sincerely appreciate your participation.
If there are any issues with your submission, someone from the production will contact you via e-mail to work them out.
